Bringing Back the Beta?

Recently, the Animal Jam video maker, Julian2, uploaded a video about "Bringing Back the Beta".

That is a pretty good idea! People like me who collect rares can be assured they won't suddenly lose their value, and Jammers who want to own the super rare items can, just on another server where every item is sold! And at the same time, we could experience Jamaa like it was in the Beta Testing period!

As it says in the video, items could not be taken cross-server. This would make collecting rares a more innocent hobby, as it would be purely for the sake of collecting. And seriously, who doesn't want to visit the infamous Beta Den?

Now, I don't think the creator of the video fully understood what he was saying. Beta Testing was when Animal Jam was a simple, glitching game that wasn't even released yet! However, people tend to like they art, item styles, and innocence of it. For example, there were no rares, meaning no scamming, hacking or fame! I think that would make a really fun server.

What are your opinions? I hope you comment them below!

PS: Please stop sending me buddy requests. It makes my buddy list glitch and delete people!

  1. I think that's a great idea! We could experience beta times! But you can't take it over to a different server. But what about the chat systems? And there wouldn't be any membership too.. Then I guess... I wouldn't be beta anymore. They already tested it so you don't need to have another beta period just for enjoyment. Anyway, just my thoughts.

  2. Hmmm...good idea!

Who and how would that server get MADE? (Sorry if it said it in the vid, I didn't watch it lol)
Well, here're my pros and cons:

    PROS
    No more scamming/hacking
No more rares - more friends
    No membership

    CONS
    How to make it?
It would probably have far more people than the "real" AJ.
If someone other than AJ HQ made it, that person would need copyright blablabla.

    MEEP?
    What about memberships?
    Chat?
    Trading?
    Etc?
    Would they be there? :3

    Sooooooooooo...yeah.

    1. No, AJHQ would just upload the old Beta Files. It would be as limiting as the Real Beta, so I'm sure it wouldn't be used as much. There could still be Membership, why not? And chat existed in beta. They could add trading. We just want to see what Jamaa looked like more than anything.

  3. I just missed beta (all right, not JUST - by a few months) and I always thought that Jamaa when I joined as well as in beta had a much nicer style...I think they should do what you're talking about. :D

    3. I don't remember exactly when I joined. :3
I think it was in the winter (maybe January 2011?)...I just remember that I was a computer, and so was my friend, and we were playing games online, and she saw an ad for Animal Jam. I told her that she probably shouldn't click it (my dad warned about that stuff), but she did. I'm glad she didn't listen to me! :3

I went home and asked my dad to create an account.

  4. I'm not really sure what to think about this...

I mean, the whole point of beta testing was to see if Animal Jam was fun, find any bugs, etc...
So, when Animal Jam moved out of beta, there were a lot more improvements, but then there were cons to go with the pros.

I'm kinda neutral on this, but I agree, it would be cool to experience beta for ourselves.

Yet, I don't see how bringing back a server with beta testing would help stop Animal Jam from being about rares and such...

    1. I like rares XD. But a lot of people want to buy them, so this would solve that problem. I just would like to experience what Jamaa was like back then. I mean, they don't have to bring back all the glitches and stuff. XP

    2. I like rares too, but not all of them. I like them because they are neat items, not because they are rare :3

I see your point, though. There probably wouldn't be any scamming (if you couldn't take items between beta server and non-beta), because the only items would be the ones in the shops! XP

    3. There is nothing wrong with liking rares because they are rare - do people get mad because the hope diamond isn't available to every family?

    4. I understand that there is nothing wrong with liking rares for their rarity. I guess what I meant to say is there is something wrong when people say Animal Jam is all about rares ( I once saw a famous person talking with another jammer. The other jammer said that Animal Jam was more about friends than rares. The famous person responded that to have friends, you need to have rares), or when people have an all-consuming obsession with rares, which interferes with their life.

  5. no, but you know what vms915 meant. some rares are ugly or goofy, and that is why they became rare. some things are really nice, though common, and i am glad they are not hard to get....like trees and book cases and welcome mats!

  6. This would be quite complicated, because if you dont want drama, scamming, and rares, we would have to have AJHQ monitor Jamaa 24/7, and if anyone did anything one, terminate their account! So many people would be gone, leaving about 10. They would need to get rid of about 9,999,990 Jammers! Maybe some of us would be gone too, so it is impossible to get the beta days back. Its sad, yes, but we can do nothing about it. Those days are gone, until AJ starts to close down, getting rid of jammers slowly.

  14. Wow, what a point that post makes! And the video...I mean, it totally makes sense! Beta times seem so much more fun. I think that many Jammers who have quit Animal Jam would still be playing to this day if Jamaa were still as it was before. Sure, there would be a few stragglers who would get bored of Animal Jam and quit. That happens! But I really think it would happen less often and Animal Jam might even be more popular than it is now. That's just what I think. :)
